The Ripening Seed, Colette. This was on a pop-up library at the local shops along with other French language novels, probably all deposited by the same Francophile. I like to read translated French literature, to see how others have done it. This one’s good, a style I’d like to imitate. The story is interesting enough about teenage love in the 1920s.
A Fortunate Life, A.B. Facey. A book I’ve begun a number of times and put down. But I’ve read strong recommendations for it, it’s on my bookshelf, donated to a family member some time ago, so I’m now reading it and this time am finding it hard to put down.
