Feluccas passing through the English Bridge, Cairo [Kobri Al Galaa or Evacuation Bridge] [picture] : [Cairo, Egypt, World War II]\" \/><\/p>\n<p>8th July &#8211; Bought a green leather bag which was half-price &#8216;because of the colour&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>9th July &#8211; Spent hours searching the Internet for an image matching my <a href=\"https:\/\/soundslikewish.org\/?p=1750\">camel bridge photo<\/a>.\u00a0 Finally found a postcard from the early 20th century showing the same bridge.\u00a0 The Internet is an amazing resource!<\/p>\n<p>10th July &#8211; Tried to get out of a 3-hour free carpark.\u00a0 Put the ticket in the machine and it shot out and landed in a puddle where 6 other tickets were being rained on.\u00a0 Mine was the driest, so I picked it up and put it back in.\u00a0 It shot out again.\u00a0 I hit the red &#8216;Help&#8217; button and a muffled voice announced the free parking had been reduced to 2 hours.\u00a0 The boom was generously raised anyway.<\/p>\n<p>11th July &#8211; Learned that Joni Mitchell&#8217;s song &#8216;Both sides now&#8217; was written as a poem.\u00a0 It&#8217;s great read aloud.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>7th July &#8211; Researching the El Gala&#8217;a Bridge in Cairo for a &#8216;Night&#8217; photo challenge, I discovered it opened for feluccas by pivoting the central part around to perpendicular, making two passageways for the boats.
