&#8211; it struck me as a request to show how self-centred and unsharing we can be sometimes.\u00a0 However, I&#8217;ve just realised that I have something I&#8217;m pleased to call &#8216;mine&#8217; because I&#8217;ve been using a borrowed one for 15 months.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t need to hang onto it very tightly:\u00a0 it&#8217;s one of those things that no one else would ever want!<\/p>\n<p>In June last year I began working on the translation of a story, reading from a library book which I was the first to borrow since the 1980s.\u00a0 The story was so good that I soon tried to buy my own copy.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s such a peculiar title and edition that my worldwide search turned up nothing.\u00a0 Until 2 weeks ago.\u00a0 I was reminded that persistence pays.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the library book I&#8217;ve been using, printed in 1980:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2279\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2279\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/worth.id.au\/wish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/gsand_new1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2279 \" src=\"http:\/\/worth.id.au\/wish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/gsand_new1.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/soundslikewish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/gsand_new1.jpg 3633w, https:\/\/soundslikewish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/gsand_new1-300x245.jpg 300w, https:\/\/soundslikewish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/gsand_new1-768x628.jpg 768w, https:\/\/soundslikewish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/gsand_new1-1024x837.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/soundslikewish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/gsand_new1-1200x981.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2279\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8216;Un Hiver \u00e0 Majorque&#8217;
