Posted on 14 January, 2012 by TrishWeekly photo challenge: peaceful This week, it really was a challenge to find a photo in the war album that suited a peaceful theme… I like this one of the sun rising behind the pyramids, though even this photo has a disturbing darkness. A soldiers life is often boredom between brief moments of fear. I guess the boredom can be very peaceful at times. Interesting shot.
You’ve seen something that’s not always obvious, and in fact, I only know about the between-battle-boredom because my father wrote a poem about it.
All the photos I’ve submitted are from a war album, c 1941, and are blown up from 4 x 3 inch photos. Hence, the graininess. I’m glad you like it.
Thanks Ailsa. And thanks for the inspiration. I admire your efforts, giving us a new prompt each week.
That’s a very dramatic photo, Trish. It’s interesting to see the pyramids from the Nile, rather than from the desert.
A disturbing darkness? I love it!
Lovely!

Emozionante
I find this 1940s picture very evocative – it has mood and mystery.
I agree. The pyramids look so black that it feels eerie.
Wow, cool and spooky at the same time, I love it! xxx Ailsa

That’s a good point! I’ve heard that the pyramids can be seen from all over Cairo.
Thanks again, Jo.
Thanks Max.
